Root Canal Northridge

root canal northridgeRoot canals are performed to treat the soft pulp tissue located inside the tooth.  This is a sensitive area that requires the most experienced emergency dentist to treat.  Dr. Razi performs some of the most comfortable, effective, and outstanding root canal treatments in Northridge.

If your pulp tissue is infected or is experiencing inflammation, root canals are necessary for full recovery.  The central nerve area of your tooth has numerous blood vessels and nerve cells that are sensitive to infections.  Pain can be frequently felt from this area when a problem occurs.  The pain may dissipate over time, but the infection can last for a long time and cause additional problems to your overall health.

You will undergo an exam to determine if a root canal is the right procedure.  The process will also evaluate for additional problems that a root canal can resolve.  The tooth will be numbed with an anesthetic and a small incision made on the enamel.  The doctor will be able to see the pulp and treat it for infections.

Dead pulp tissue located in the passageways will be removed using sterilized, small instruments.  The chamber and canals are then cleaned, using specialized rinsing fluids to eliminate the bacteria causing the infection.  The incision hole will then be re-sealed using dental fillings.  After a root canal, your tooth may have higher sensitivity for a temporary period of time.

Over-the-counter pain medications or prescriptions can help you minimize any pain or discomfort experienced following the treatment.  Refrain from biting on the treated tooth until it has fully recovered.  To reinforce the tooth, you can wear a porcelain crown.
